Weekend Supplement: Airport Dispatch
Back to NYC, featuring what I'm doing, what I'm reading, Naturium lipgloss, and clear hydro-stars
I’m in Kentucky at the moment, waiting at CVG to return from a short and sweet trip to celebrate an achievement of my dad’s. He was inducted into his college’s Hall of Fame for many accomplishments. Still, one I suspect stood out above the rest when the committee made their selections: he’s a wonderful, ambitious, loyal, community-oriented person who has continued to give back throughout his career in Kentucky. I love him so much, and I’m so proud of him.
Sam and Herbie are here. Herbie in a carrier that’s covered by a large shirt of Sam’s so he doesn’t growl at any passersby. I’ve had a green tea, though I wanted a bloody mary, and applied Naturium’s Phyto-Glow Lip Balm in Petal — a summery milky pink — a few times. I’m deeming this my Gloss of the Summer.
The edges of my pimple patch, a clear Starface hydro-star, are peeling up — a reminder that I didn’t fully dry the surface area before applying it this morning. I’m new to the clear stars, and I will tell you that when properly applied, they stand out above the rest for corner-of-the-mouth pimples, something I have an absolute abundance of lately. The five corners of the stars offer a uniquely strong grip, perfect for the more dynamic areas of the face.
I’m once again reading Middlesex, a book I started a year ago, and have since picked back up. I dropped back into a part that picks up an aesthetic I love, which is summertime near a lake in an old house. It’s a nice contrast to gloomy spring weather, and inspiration for the type of summer I’d like to have: slow and warm, by a body of fresh water.
Back in New York and posting this from my couch — I have something to add! I’m wearing my current favorite spot treatment, a drugstore brand zinc paste, on the spot that was previously covered with the hydro-star. For nighttime, this is nearly unbeatable. It contains three ingredients: mineral oil, petrolatum, and zinc oxide. This all comes together to form a salve that creates a barrier while also drying out the blemish. I got this one on vacation in Sweden, but as it would turn out, this is very available in the US (16 oz.?!) as well. It is NOT interchangeable with the Boudreaux's Butt Pastes or A+D ointments, as these both contain extras (ie, balsam peru or lanolin). It’s simpler and very cheap.

You are absolutely selling me on that lip gloss. It's making me think I want to hold space to try something new rather than buying yet another Balm Dotcom. I have heard such wonderful things about Naturium as a brand! :-)
